So what's involved in creating
a full web page template starting from a blank canvas? Below you will find
the 6 steps that Doni takes each time he creates a template.
Step 1:
First, Doni opens a new image
at 780x400 pixels. This insures that it will fit within 800x600 resolution
without scrolling left to right.
Step 2:
Next, Doni makes odd shapes
and positions them in layers within his canvas until he is happy with the
results.
Step 3:
Third, Doni colors all
the different layers, and adds the necessary effects (such as shading and
beveling) to achieve the look he is aiming for.
Step 4:
Finally the layers are combined,
and the image is exported to Adobe
ImageReady so it can be sliced into smaller pieces. A sliced image
will load faster on the web, and is easier to work with when fitting in
text and other objects.
Step 5:
Doni then goes through and
edits the ImageReady output to make sure it works the way he needs it to;
this is really tricky when including multiple forms.
Step 6:
Lastly, Doni uploads the
images and html pages and hope everyone loves the new layout!
Next we will take a closer
look at steps 1-3 and view some of Doni's work in process.
